Mission Statement

The mission of the WVVA HealthCare Alliance, PC is to serve our patients and community as we would be served. We are committed to understanding and working together as a group. We are committed to providing quality medical care at a reasonable cost for our patients.

Office Visits

All visits are by appointment and every effort is made to see patients at the appointed time. Medical and surgical emergencies do occur that may delay these appointments. If a delay is to be encountered, the patient will be promptly notified and for this reason we request telephone numbers from patients when appointments are made. Please expect to be asked the nature of the problem in order to determine the amount of time needed, the urgency of the problem, and whether special supplies or procedures will be necessary. This information is confidential and used only within the office.

Emergencies

Please call the office regarding all emergencies that occur during normal working hours. For the most part, these problems may be handled in the office saving expensive emergency room visits. Appointment spaces are kept open at most offices each day for problems that must be seen that day, but calling ahead will reduce any delays on your part. Occasionally patients will be referred to the emergency room for problems, which cannot be handled in the office.

After Hours

After hours, it is necessary to call the office number and you will then be referred through the answering service or answering machine to reach the physician on call, or you may be directed to an emergency room. Narcotic pain relievers, tranquilizers, and antibiotics will not routinely be prescribed over the phone without evaluation. Routine prescription refills are not considered an after hours emergency.

Hospitals

Alleghany Regional Hospital located in Low Moor, Virginia and Greenbrier Valley Medical Center located in Ronceverte, West Virginia are the primary hospitals for the Alliance.

Professional Staff

Certified Physician Assistants (PA-C) and Certified Family Nurse Practitioners (FNP-C) are working at some of our offices to help patients with minor medical problems and routine care. This allows patients to be seen quicker for their problems.

Direct Employer Contracts

WVVA HealthCare Alliance does contract directly with employers. At the time of your appointment please inform the office staff if you are employed by one of our direct contract employers when presenting your insurance information. Please have your Human Resources or Benefits department contact our management business office at (304) 536-5030 (304) 536-5030 for more information regarding direct contracting with our physicians.

Fees

Every effort is made to keep the cost of medical care as low as possible. Please feel free to inquire about them.

Diagnostic Procedures

Laboratory and x-ray services are available on a limited basis in our offices. We also offer bone density scans, EKGs, mammography screening, ultrasound studies, pulmonary function testing, and sleep lab studies at select offices within the Alliance. Please ask when calling if a specific study is offered at the office you are contacting. Our staff will gladly direct you to one of our offices that offer the diagnostic procedure you require.

Teaching

The Alliance strongly supports the training of physicians and medical students. For that reason, a student or resident physician may be present at the time of a patient’s visit and the patient will be asked to participate in this learning experience in some offices. However, please feel free to ask the nurse or receptionist any questions you may have about the presence of a physician in training.

Telephone Calls

In emergency situations, your phone call will be returned promptly. In order to maintain the appointment schedule, all other calls may not be returned immediately, but will normally be returned by 6 p.m. the following day.
